You can now hear DAGR and Cherry Glazerr’s “Texas,” the Los Angeles-based acts’ collaboration and contribution to the Hardly Art 15th Anniversary Singles Series.

DAGR is the duo of Ceci Gomez and Veronika Jane Wyman. Their collaboration slinks between dance and hip-hop, scraping at the walls of pop. Their 2021 self-titled debut album features the likes of Uffie, Dizzy Fae, Bali Baby, Warhol SS, Cecile Believe, and more. Their recently released sophomore album leans into the EDM world with features from Portugal. The Man, Rebecca Black, LVL1, Lunice, and more. These Texas natives designed the songs for an unhinged club night and a cornfield rave. Individual producers in their own right, the two have produced and engineered for, as well as written and toured with a slew of artists, including 24kGoldn, LoveLeo, Banoffee, Dua Saleh, Audrey Nuna, Pussy Riot, Gia Woods, Phem, Deaton Chris Anthony, Elio, King Princess, Brooke Candy, Donna Missal, Nasty Cherry, Girlpool, Spank Rock, and more.

Indie rock outfit Cherry Glazerr has had quite the sonic trajectory since its founding in 2013 by guitarist and lead vocalist Clementine Creevy. Evolving from youthful grunge rock to a more mature and introspective yet raucous indie rock sound, Creevy never fails to embrace new directions and make them uniquely her own.  Creevy’s natural creativity has fueled the latest iteration of Cherry Glazerr, showcased by her latest singles “Soft Drink,” “Big Bang,” and “Rabbit Hole”. While maintaining the candid cleverness and punk rock roots of earlier projects, Creevy is crafting a world of epic electro-synth ballads inspired by artists such as Daft Punk, Four Tet, and Alice Glass. Dark and danceable, Clementine’s hypnotizing vocals are the cherry on top as she traverses a new sound. She is currently at work on her fourth LP.

DAGR had this to say on the song, “We wrote ‘Texas’ in the 100-degree heat of Palm Springs on a psychedelic golf course. We’re both from Texas and initially wrote it as a love letter to the absurdity of our home state. Cherry Glazerr transformed our ode to alt-metal into a beautiful love song. ‘Texas’ has quickly become one of our favorite records, and getting to experiment in a new genre with Clem felt truly special.”

Cherry Glazerr’s Creevy offers this, “I went over to Ceci and V’s studio and laid down vox for ‘Texas,’ and it was sick. I love the music that they’re making together right now. It’s so fun and unique. It’s what the world needs right now. I like rememberer venting to them about boys in between takes, and they were super fucking cool about it. I love how this track just makes me feel free and sexy. Like a crazy little butterfly with a rattlesnake alter ego.”
